Dr. Jose Crespo received his Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI, in 2014, and a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Marquette’s emphasis on hands-on manual therapy shaped the early direction of his career, and his clinical experience has since specialized in vestibular rehabilitation, TMJ / craniofacial pain and migraines, spinal dysfunction, and chronic pain rehabilitation.
A foundation built on TMJ and craniofacial pain.
Jose’s initial clinical path focused on the treatment of TMD (temporomandibular joint dysfunction), craniofacial pain, migraine and tension-type headaches, and spinal dysfunction, working extensively within a pain-management and TMJ treatment center in Wisconsin. His effectiveness in managing TMD is rooted in his professional and clinical experience working directly with multidisciplinary medical teams, including dentists board-certified in TMD / orofacial pain and dental sleep medicine, airway-focused orthodontists / orthotropics, ENT physicians, myofunctional therapists, speech therapists, and oral surgeons.
A patient’s success in their journey with TMJ dysfunction is frequently determined by early conservative management. Jose’s treatment strategies are aimed at eliminating pain with eating and chewing, restoring active range of motion of the jaw so that normal movements such as eating, talking, and yawning are pain-free, educating patients on the factors involved in managing bruxism (clenching or grinding of the jaw), resolving or maximizing function to address acute or chronic “lock jaw,” and identifying the biomechanical factors behind a chronic history of migraine-like pain disorders.
From craniofacial pain to vestibular rehabilitation.
Jose’s clinical experience in the treatment of TMJ, facial pain, and migraines expanded his career focus into the world of vestibular rehabilitation. There is a high prevalence of both dizziness and vertigo among those suffering with TMJ dysfunction, and as a result Jose has extensive clinical experience in the rehabilitation of vestibular dysfunction, including vertigo, dizziness, disequilibrium / unsteadiness, nausea and motion sensitivity, as well as complex neurologic medical conditions. Jose has rehabilitated a high volume of patients referred from a variety of medical professionals, including specialists from Ear, Nose & Throat, Neurology, Internal Medicine, Audiology, and Optometry practices.
